Ceramics made in Pingsdorf near Brühl are exemplary for the Rhenish Pottery
of the High Middle Ages. Here and in a lot of other Rhenish villages potters
made this pottery with the characteristically engobe painting.
The used clay was less ferreous, so it was possible to get a nearly snow-white
surface by firing in a low temperature.
In other firing methods they got colors from bright yellow to red-orange.
Inside this beautiful reconstruction is transparently glazed.
